Following the devastating bushfires on the NSW South Coast, the NSW Government has made available a range of financial assistance to help fire affected communities recover and rebuild.
Bushfire affected communities will not have to pay council rates on a property that has been lost in the fires. The NSW Government will cover the full cost of council rates for the third and fourth quarters of the 2019-20 financial year. Anyone who has already paid their rates will receive a refund.
Anyone whose home or business has been destroyed in the recent fires is eligible for assistance.
Affected residents and small businesses should take their rates notice to a Service NSW centre where the costs will be waived or refunded. Service NSW Centre locations can be found here.
