Member for Gilmore, Fiona Phillips MP, says she’s not seen anything visionary for the NSW South Coast, in government leaks ahead of the Federal Budget.

Mrs Phillips welcomed infrastructure road announcements for the NSW South Coast, most of which are actually re-announcements, and something Mrs Phillips fought hard for, to bring forward that funding long ago.

Mrs Phillips said it’s a bit rich of the Morrison Government to saddle taxpayers with $1 trillion in debt and not actually come up with some visionary announcements to address systemic problems on the NSW South Coast.

“Saddling taxpayers with $1 trillion in debt is one thing, but if there’s nothing visionary to show for it, that’s just sad for future generations”, Fiona said.

“Where’s the Morrison government’s plan to address the crisis in affordable and social housing, rental availability and homelessness that’s plaguing our south coast?”, Fiona continued.

"What should I tell people - mums, the elderly, the vulnerable, families, workers, that come into my office and have nowhere to live? That are being turfed out of their homes and have nowhere to go? And have no access to public transport? Fiona continued.

“What should we tell young people that want to remain living locally?

“The Morrison Government has had eight long years in government to fix affordable and social housing, but instead – nothing!”, Fiona said.

“If the government wanted to make a visionary roads announcement, how about announcing funding for pre-planning for the Nowra bypass? – but again nothing”, Fiona continued.

“Or how about delivering a full and comprehensive response to the aged care royal commission report – ‘Neglect’? Surely our elderly and vulnerable loved ones deserve that”, Fiona said.

“How about funding to help bushfire proof our communities that have been to hell and back, and flood mitigation funding to help at Lake Conjola? What about funding the much needed Eurobodalla Emergency Operations Centre at Moruya? The Morrison Government has still failed to spend a cent of the $4 billion resilience and recovery fund that was announced two years ago”, Fiona continued.

“What about making sure we have acute mental health beds in our hospitals?” Fiona said.

“Quite frankly, I am over the Morrison Government with no vision, NOTHING”, Fiona continued.

“Eight long years, $1 trillion in debt and the Morrison Government has no vision”, Fiona concluded.
