Member for Gilmore, Fiona Phillips MP has today announced the Shoalhaven Heads Men’s Shed will receive $15,000 as part of a $30,000 project to improve their facilities and disability access.
Under the Stronger Communities Programme, the Men’s Shed will upgrade their facilities to attract more members and become more accessible.
“Men’s Sheds play a vital role in our community, creating a meaningful space for men to give back to their communities and contributing to their health, wellbeing and happiness,” Fiona Phillips said.
“After everything our community has been through over the last few months, that mateship and support of others is more important than ever and that is why I am delighted to have secured this funding for the Shoalhaven Heads Men’s Shed,”
“These much-needed upgrades will revitalise the ageing facility, creating a new kitchen, providing disability access and improving the WHS systems,” she said.
The Stronger Communities Programme provides essential funding to local community groups and councils for projects that improve community participation and contribute to vibrant communities.
Mrs Phillips said she is thrilled to be delivering fantastic projects like this for the local community.
“Since being elected in May, I have been focused on linking community groups with the funding they need to deliver quality local projects like this one and I am excited to see this being delivered,” Fiona Phillips said.
