FIONA PHILLIPS
MEMBER FOR GILMORE
Federal member for Gilmore, Fiona Phillips, has been successful in securing grant funding in excess of $125,000 for 38 volunteer groups across the electorate.
Mrs Phillips saying, “Given COVID, we have never needed our volunteers more. Time and time again stepping up when needed most supporting local community members who have been having some of the hardest times of their lives.”
“Thank you for serving our community in the manner that you have. The “V” in volunteer reminds me how Valuable you are,” Mrs Phillips said.
The announcement coincides with “International Volunteer Day” being this Sunday, December 5th.
Mrs Phillips added “Volunteering touches all aspects of Australian society. From Saturday morning canteen at the soccer club, across land care groups, responding to natural disasters and emergencies, or helping local charities support some of our most disadvantaged people.”
“The funding boost will provide targeted improvements in areas like technology and administration, plant and equipment, fuel cards, through to the refurbishment of a Lions food van. Congratulations to all the successful local recipients,” Mrs Phillips said
