The Federal Member for Gilmore, Fiona Phillips MP, has today called for expressions of interest from local groups into two Federal Government community grant programs.
“I am excited to announce that the Stronger Communities Programme and the Communities Environment Program are now open for Expressions of Interest,” Mrs Phillips said.
Each grant program provides $150,000 per electorate for grants between $2,500 and $20,000.
The Stronger Communities Programme allows for small capital projects and equipment that improve local communities and increase community participation.
Eligible projects may include community centre fit outs, bike paths, sporting facility upgrades and equipment purchases.
Grants can cover up to 50 per cent of project costs, with community groups able to provide cash or in-kind contributions.
The Communities Environment Program supports community groups to address local environmental priorities, connecting communities with their environment.
Grants of between $2,500 and $20,000 are available for 100 per cent of project costs.
On-ground activities such as supporting threatened species recovery, monitoring water quality and reducing invasive weed impacts may be eligible for funding.
“These fantastic grant programs provide much needed funding to South Coast community groups to undertake local projects,” she said.
Mrs Phillips is inviting eligible community groups in the Gilmore electorate to submit expressions of interest to the programs by 9 September 2019.
