Member for Gilmore, Fiona Phillips is set to join the vibrant celebrations of NAIDOC Week 2023.

NAIDOC Week is an annual celebration that honours the rich cultural heritage, achievements, and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to this country.

“We have such a rich and vibrant Indigenous heritage here on the South Coast, and I absolutely love celebrating NAIDOC week,” Fiona said.

This year’s NAIDOC theme For Our Elders, is an opportunity for all Australians to learn from the knowledge and perspectives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elders. Together we can ensure that their wisdom will continue to be passed down through generations.

“It’s always exciting to see how local people interpret the theme of NAIDOC week, I think For our Elders is a wonderful theme, and I look forward to seeing and hearing what this theme means to community members,” Fiona added.

“NAIDOC Week is an important time to recognise the strength, resilience, and contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to our communities,” Fiona concluded.

During NAIDOC Week, Fiona will be attending and participating in multiple public and private events and activities which showcase the diversity, resilience, and creativity of Indigenous communities on the South Coast.
