The Member for Gilmore, Fiona Phillips MP, has today welcomed further financial assistance from the Federal Government to support small businesses and primary producers recover from the devastating bushfires on the NSW South Coast.
For weeks, Mrs Phillips has been calling on the Morrison Government to make the Bushfire Recovery Grants available to people in the Shoalhaven and Eurobodalla suffering the impacts of the fires that have been ravaging the area for some time.
The program is jointly funded by the Federal and NSW Governments under the Disaster Recovery Funding Arrangements and provides grants of up to $15,000 to help farmers and small businesses clean-up, repair damages and replace stock.
“These bushfires are absolutely devastating our community and many small businesses and primary producers have a long road to recovery,” Fiona Phillips said.
“I am pleased that the government has finally made these grants available in the Shoalhaven and Eurobodalla to help farmers and small businesses get back on their feet,”
“We have all heard harrowing stories of the impact this fire has had, but I have been absolutely humbled to see the strength and resilience of local people who are banding together to help and support each other,”
“I again want to sincerely thank all of our amazing fire fighters, emergency service workers and volunteers for all their amazing work to help and protect our community,” Mrs Phillips said.
