Federal Member for Gilmore Fiona Phillips has announced 24 community organisations across the South Coast will share in more than $65,000 funding under the 2024-25 Volunteer Grants Round.
Mrs Phillips said the grants will be used to assist volunteers through things like purchasing small equipment items, fuel, training courses and background screening checks.
For the first time this year, eligible community organisations were able to allocate their funding towards insurance premiums to help with rising operating costs and reduce out of pocket costs for volunteers.
“I’m delighted to help out the volunteers in 24 local organisations who dedicate so much time and effort to enhance our communities,” Mrs Phillips said.
“They may be small grants, but they can make a big difference to these community groups, sporting clubs and multicultural organisations by reducing barriers for volunteers and increasing participation.
“I love all of our local community groups, from scouts and theatre groups, to choirs, social clubs and of course our many, many sporting organisations, and support the incredibly important work they do.
“It is our hope that this additional funding will provide the support that our volunteers need to keep doing their incredible work.”
