LABOR COMMITS $7.5M TOWARD SANCTUARY POINT DISTRICT LIBRARY

An Albanese Labor Government will invest $7.5 million to build the new Sanctuary Point District Library.
The Sanctuary Point District Library will provide a new dimension in Sanctuary Point, providing a hub for learning, collaboration, community functions and enabling greater access to books and technology.

Positioned near the Sanctuary Point police station, the library will add to the list of wins that the community has campaigned for, and that Fiona Phillips has backed all the way.

This commitment follows extensive consultation from Shoalhaven City Council, who have released detailed plans and architectural drawings of the new facility.

Only an Albanese Labor Government will partner with the local community in delivering this much needed new facility.

Attributable to Fiona Phillips, Member for Gilmore:
“I have been campaigning with the Sanctuary Point community for years on this critical investment for the Bay and Basin community,” Mrs Phillips said.

“As a TAFE teacher, I recall taking my students to the library at Sanctuary Point, and while well loved, it has been clearly too small and in need of an upgrade,” Fiona said.

“Sanctuary Point is a much-loved community that fully deserves this infrastructure. As a mum myself, I know how important it is for our young people to our elderly to have good access to libraries for their education and wellbeing,” Mrs Phillips said.

Attributable to Jason Clare, Shadow Minister for Regional Services, Territories and Local Government: “Libraries provide a hub of community activity. They support the educational needs of the local community through the provision of infrastructure, technology and resources, contributing to student study and life-long learning."

"Shoalhaven council has listened to the advice from population benchmarking standards and developed a project to improve Shoalhaven for everyone.

“Labor is the party that supports, funds and backs public institutions as a public good.

Attributable to Catherine King, Shadow Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development:
“Infrastructure isn’t just roads and rail; it also includes the social infrastructure that delivers a better life to Australians.

“This investment will deliver greater services and equity to this community, providing a new place for residents of all ages to learn and to grow – from the very youngest to the very oldest.”

“Labor’s infrastructure investments will be about delivering a better life for locals; this is a prime example of just that.
