LABOR TO INVEST IN THE NOWRA BYPASS
An Albanese Labor Government will invest in the construction of the Nowra Bypass, funding a planning study and setting the stage for the future easing of traffic congestion for locals and visitors.
This long-awaited project has been identified as a “key road project” by Shoalhaven City Council, with Nowra locals and visitors to the South Coast too often left frustrated by long traffic delays, especially in peak tourist season.
Labor’s commitment of $5 million will fund Phase One of the Nowra Bypass upgrade, completing planning studies and setting the stage for construction work to begin.
When complete, this bypass will get traffic out of the middle of Nowra, improving liveability and helping small businesses, tourist providers and local jobs.
The local community has been waiting for this project for almost 40 years, with land earmarked by Shoalhaven Council since 1986.
Only an Albanese Labor Government will provide the funding to finally get the bypass moving.

Quotes attributable to Fiona Phillips, Member for Gilmore:
As locals, we know that a Nowra bypass is desperately needed. A bypass will help ease traffic congestion, improve the liveability and workability of Nowra and the region, helping small businesses, tourism, and local jobs.
Thank you to everyone who signed my petition and added their voice to my call to the NSW and Federal Government for this critical piece of infrastructure that has been delayed for decades.
I am pleased to confirm that under an Albanese Labor Government, federal funding will get the Nowra Bypass moving.

Nowra is a beautiful part of the world, but it could be even better.
Thanks to the tireless advocacy of Fiona Phillips, this investment will set the stage for easing congestion and giving the streets of Nowra back to locals and back to businesses.
