Member for Gilmore, Fiona Phillips MP is encouraging all South Coast Farmers to have their say on the Standing Committee on Agriculture and Water Resources’ inquiry into the Australian agriculture industry.
The inquiry will consider the opportunities and impediments to achieving a combined $100 billion agricultural production value by 2030.
“I have been a vocal supporter of South Coast dairy farmers for a number of years. I grew up on local dairy farm so I understand the challenges facing local farmers,” Mrs Phillips said.
The Gilmore MP said she wants to make sure the voices of South Coast farmers are heard at every available opportunity.
Like many local farmers, Mrs Phillips was shocked when recently the Morrison Government cruelly excluded local farmers from the Drought Communities Programme Extension.
“We want to make sure that our region is adequately represented so that this government cannot continue to ignore our concerns,”
“As a member of the committee, I am strongly encouraging all local farmers to make a submission to the inquiry,” she said.
Submissions can be emailed to [email protected] and further information on the inquiry is available here.
