Member for Gilmore, Fiona Phillips MP is celebrating the success of the 2022-23 round of volunteer grants.
Volunteer groups from across Gilmore were invited to submit Expression of Interests for the 2022-23 round of volunteer grants with 21 local organisations receiving a share of over $66,000 to support their volunteers.
“Providing grants to volunteer organisations is one of my favourite parts about being an local Member of Parliament. These organisations are here for our community through thick and thin, and I am delighted to be able to give back to so many great organisations,” Fiona said.
A total of $66,225 was awarded to 21 volunteer-based organisations across our region for purchases such as fuel costs, training, community barbeques and safety equipment.
“Volunteer groups do such amazing work in our communities, and after a tough few years navigating devastating bushfires, storms, floods and the COVID pandemic it is important to help support them when possible,” Fiona said.
“These organisations do all sorts of wonderful things. Like Marine Rescue, St Johns Ambulance and United Hospital Auxiliaries teams keeping people safe and healthy. Local sports clubs help keep people active and are a vital social outlet, and our Rotary and Lions Clubs support and develop the community from the ground up,” Fiona said.
“I am really in awe of the commitment and dedication of our local volunteers, and I want to sincerely thank them,” Fiona said.
