The Member for Gilmore, Fiona Phillips has recently opened the new Observation Point Viewing Platform in Batehaven.

The stunning new Observation Point Viewing Platform features panoramic views of scenic Batemans Bay and surrounding coastline. The new viewing platform will provide a new tourism opportunity for the area, driving growth in the visitor economy and benefiting local businesses, tourism operators, transport, and accommodation providers.

Throughout the construction of the platform, 38 jobs were supported, including six council staff and 30 external contractors, with two staff to have ongoing roles as a result of the completion of the viewing platform.

"The Observation Point Lookout is a stunning new addition to our already vibrant local tourism offering, and I am confident that it will attract visitors from near and far. I’m excited to hear stories from people who come and enjoy the beautiful views that the Observation Point Lookout has to offer." said Fiona Phillips MP.

The upgrades to the Observation Point Viewing Platform include a wheel-chair accessible viewing platform and lookout points, allowing people of all abilities to use the new facilities.

The project boasts beautiful views, and will be a vital touchpoint of local recreational activities and positive physical and social wellbeing with various walking trails connected to the viewing platform.

"It’s just great to see the Observation Point lookout completed. The construction supported local jobs, and now that it’s finished we have another beautiful attraction on the South Coast, which is just fantastic.” Mrs Phillips added.

The Australian Government committed $672,500 to the project through the Bushfire Local Economic Recovery (BLER) Fund, and the Regional Tourism Bushfire Recovery (RTBR) Program. The NSW Government, Eurobodalla Shire, and Batemans Bay Rotary Club also contributed significantly to the $1.34 million dollar project.

“I thank everyone that has worked tirelessly on this project over many years”
