The Broulee Surfers Surf Life Saving Club will receive $17,000 for a new shed fit-out thanks to an Australian Government grants program.
The Member for Gilmore, Fiona Phillips MP, has today announced the much-needed boost to the local club to help improve the safety, longevity and accessibility of vital equipment.
“We have had such a tough summer. The Broulee Surfers Surf Life Saving Club and other local surf clubs played a critical role in sheltering our community from the fire so I am delighted to deliver some good news today,” Fiona Phillips said.
“The club is an important part of our community and these upgrades will mean it will have the equipment needed to run its voluntary patrols, nippers and training programs for years to come”
The Stronger Communities Programme provides essential funding to local community groups and councils for projects that improve community participation and contribute to vibrant communities.
Mrs Phillips said she is thrilled to be delivering fantastic projects like this for the local community.
“I want to sincerely thank the club and its members for everything they have done to care for others during the bushfires – every day I am speaking with people who are sharing these wonderful stories of our true community spirit and it makes me so proud to be part of the South Coast,” Mrs Phillips said.
“Since being elected in May, I have been focused on linking community groups with the funding they need to deliver quality local projects like this one and I am excited to see this being delivered,” she said.
