Local Landcare groups play a pivotal role in protecting our precious environment, particularly following the recent bushfires where volunteers have been essential to our immediate on-ground response.

Federal Member for Gilmore, Fiona Phillips MP has used National Landcare Week to thank Landcare volunteers across the South Coast for their amazing work this year and every year.

Mrs Phillips said she was proud to support local Landcare groups with over $30,000 for local environmental projects since being elected in 2019.

“We have so many amazing volunteers on the South Coast, and Landcare is yet another example of how local people are finding ways to give back,” Fiona Phillips said.

“I have seen the amazing work these groups are doing, from working with local schools to protect the Little Penguin, to weeding and erosion control – where would we be without Landcare!”

“On National Landcare Week, I want to thank all of our amazing local Landcare volunteers for everything you do for our community,” Fiona Phillips said.

The Landcare community represents the success of Australians coming together. If you are looking for ways to help out, you can find local organisation and events here: https://landcareaustralia.org.au/landcareweek2020/
