Four local organisations will share in more than $51,000 of grant funding to support local recovery under the second round of the Strengthening Rural Communities – Rebuilding Regional Communities (RRC) program, Member for Gilmore, Fiona Phillips has announced.

Groups in Kangaroo Valley, Nowra and Tuross Head have received a total of $51,399 under the program to make communities more resilient with off grid emergency power, strengthen our disaster response and stimulate our economy by growing skills and supporting volunteers.

This is on top of almost $35,000 delivered under the first round of the RRC, bringing the total funding delivered in the Gilmore electorate so far under the program to $85,941.

“I am delighted that the Australian Government continues to help local organisations working hard every day to support our recovery,” Fiona Phillips said.

“Our communities are still struggling with the challenges the last few years have brought – and we have a long way to go.”

”Working with local people and organisations, I will keep delivering local support where and when its needed.”

“I want to sincerely thank each and every local person and organisation, many of whom are volunteers, for their work in this space – you really are the true spirit of the South Coast,” Mrs Phillips said.

The Australian Government has partnered with Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal (FRRR) to deliver the program, recognising the continuing impacts of COVID-19 on remote, rural and regional communities.

Under the program, community groups and not-for-profit organisations receive micro-grants of up to $10,000, or larger grants of up to $50,000, to deliver initiatives that benefit regional, rural and remote areas recovering from the impacts of COVID-19.

The Government has committed $5 million from 2022 to 2024 to the RRC stream.
